Jones, Sydney Robert Fleming -
Sydney Robert Fleming Jones [commonly known as Sydney Robert Jones or Sydney R. Jones] was born in Birmingham, England, on 27 February and trained as an architect with William Henry Bidlake and Freeman Smith (). He also attended Birmingham School of Art beneath () following which he set up private practice as an architect with Holland William Hobbiss ().
Jones also worked as a painter, etcher, illustrator and commercial artist. In addition, he wrote and illustrated several books mainly on domestic architecture, including "Old English Country Cottages", ; "The Charm of the English Village", ; "The Manor Houses of England", ; "The Village Homes of England", ; and "Old Houses in Holland", ; "England in France", ;

SYDNEY R. JONES, master draftsman () born in Birmingham and studied at the Birmingham School of Art. He worked in an architect's office until the Great War when he served in Ireland. Sydney Robert Flemming Jones (SRJ) was born in Warwickshire, Birmingham in and studied at the Birmingham School of Art from , and The positioning of his education within history was long after the inception of the picturesque in the 18th century and just before the ‘Townscape’ movement had fully emerged in the s. His contribution to the movement was exhibitions in different places documenting what he saw through the medium of drawing.
Having had the experience of working in an architecture practice, he was also a draughtsman, an etcher, painter and author.
