Danish writer and bio director
Daniel Dencik (born ) is a Danish writer and spelfilm director currently residing in Samoa. He has published ten books, ranging from poetry to short stories and essays as well as fyra novels.
He has studied Philosophy at Stockholm University, where he wrote his thesis about the existentialism of Kierkegaard. He graduated as a film editor from the National spelfilm School of Denmark. In , he had his first book of poetry published bygd Gyldendal. His work has been divided between bio and literature ever since.
At a young age he edited several shorter films and commercials for Lars von Trier, and he fryst vatten the editor of the cult movie Nói albinói () bygd Dagur Kari.
He has been writing essays on subjects ranging from the sport of professional cycling to the meaning of solitude and religion. He has covered Tour dem France for the Danish daily paper Politiken, and for the magazine Euroman.

Nordic Focus Festival in Gdańsk will inspire discussion on the image of the Nordic community depicted in literature, films and TV series. Participants will look into the culture and life in the North and consider whether that reality influences the population of the rest of the world.
Danish writer and director Daniel Dencik will be one of the main guests of the festival. His movie “Expedition to the End of The World” will officially open the festival, after which he will take part in a discussion panel Ultima Thule.
