Modern Talking was a German pop music duo consisting of composer/producer/background singer Dieter Bohlen and singer Thomas Anders founded in Berlin, West Germany in late It was the single most successful pop group in Germany (by sales).
First formed at the end of (Anders was 21), they unexpectedly became immensely popular with their standalone disco hit "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", which was then followed by "You Can Win If You Want" and "Cheri, Cheri Lady". They released two albums a year from to while also promoting their singles on television all over Europe. After splitting up in , the duo reunited in , at first only testing the waters with new versions of hit singles and again reaching the top of the charts unexpectedly. Bohlen and Anders split again in due to irreconcilable disagreements (they had never been friends in the first place). Thomas Anders started another solo career immediately, while Bohlen had by now begun devoting

It all began back in when a Frenchman named F.R. David releases his second single "Pick up the phone". Dieter Bohlen, a composer and producer for Intersong, is very excited about this song. (If you want to know more about Dieter Bohlen, click on the link in the main menu). He wants to make a German production of this song, but he hasnt a suitable person to sing it. However, he has decided the song title: "Was macht das schon?" A few days later he gets a telephone from a record company in Berlin which is called Hansa. They have a singer who already has recorded some songs, but he hasnt had made the charts yet. His name is Bernd Weidung and he likes the idea of singing Bohlens songs. Bernd flies to Hamburg at once and he and Dieter seems to get well along together.
Later that year Dieter wrote the song "Wovon traüst du denn?", and finally Thomas hits the charts. On the 1st of October the record has sold about copies. In Marc
