  • Ingham Institute

    Our reason for being
Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research was founded to improve the health of the community living in South Western Sydney and beyond.

Through ground-breaking medical research, we exist to inspire better health and to transform treatment and care locally and globally.

    Our relevance
We are a unique and diverse community in south western Sydney. Close to half of our residents were born overseas and one in 50 identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Over half of our researchers are practising clinicians and educators and their work is shaped by the needs of the community. Our research is guided by the district’s clinical service plans and unique population needs.

Our research is locally driven, nationally significant, with global impact.

    Our reason to grow
Our community is one of the fastest growing regions in NSW due to greenfield and urban developments. The southwest Sydney population is expected to increase by 33%
