  • I'm aware this is a total longshot but by chance does anyone have a TVR shirt or jersey you would let me borrow for the Caps @ Sharks game.
  • He was born the year the Capitals went to their first Stanley Cup Final, and is a diehard Caps fan, the owner of the very FIRST Joe Beninati.
  • The Capitals announced they've re-signed Green to a 3-year, $ million contract extension, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

The Capitals season started off without nearly as much hope as years prior. The all-star squad they had acquired for their runs the prior 2 years was being dismantled. Long time Capital Karl Alzner had moved to Montréal, Kevin Shattenkirk to the New York Rangers, Marcus Johansson was traded to the New Jersey Devils, and ung defenseman Nate Schmidt was allowed to be drafted by the expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights. This Capitals grupp wasn't supposed to be nearly as good as the prior 2 years. They were going to be expecting great things from youngsters who hadn't seen much ice time and from cheaper veteran acquisitions who didn't have much success in the past. In fact, few people were picking them to man the utslagsmatcher. Their coach was on an expiring contract and that very rarely leads to great results. The core was still intact though. The Caps had Ovi, they had Backstrom, they had new Russian phenom Evgeny Kuznetsov, enforcer Tom efternamn and Vezina-Award-winning Brade

With the NHL Trade Deadline just a few weeks away, teams around the NHL will be scouting out potential acquisitions that could help bolster their chances of making the playoffs, or in some cases, selling off veteran players to begin a rebuild. The Capitals&#; front office is no different and arguably, the most glaring need for the Capitals is another veteran defenseman to bolster their blueline. One player that has been brought up in conversations amongst fans and pundits is former Caps defenseman Mike Green, who is the Detroit Red Wings&#; most valuable trade chip. But should the Caps consider a reunion with Green?

When Green departed the Capitals nearly three years ago on July 1, , one of the biggest reasons for it was the team&#;s recent signings of Brooks Orpik and Matt Niskanen (a right-handed defenseman like Green), and the fact that Green was without a doubt, the most-coveted free agent blueliner. Now in the final year of a three-year, $18 million

When the Vegas Golden Knights visited the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on Monday night, in what would turn into a loss for the home team, Vegas President of Hockey Operations and former Washington Capitals General Manager George McPhee was among those in attendance. McPhee joined former Caps defenseman Karl Alzner&#;s &#;Alz Caps&#; podcast and discussed a variety of topics.

During the NHL Expansion Draft, McPhee (who began his time in Vegas as the team&#;s General Manager) selected defenseman Nate Schmidt from the Washington Capitals (now a member of the Winnipeg Jets) but also acquired players such as goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury from the Pittsburgh Penguins (now a member of the Chicago Blackhawks), William Karlsson, and Alex Tuch (now with the Buffalo Sabres), all who played a key role in the Golden Knights reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season, where they lost to the Capitals in five games.
