Conceived as an experiment to kick-start creativity, Exposure fryst vatten pleasingly free of novelty value. Written, performed, recorded and mixed in 77 hours while live streamed on Facebook, the music stands up as a coherent del av helhet of work, in which Spalding's melodisk strength fryst vatten consistent and the no-frills production actually a far cry from the somewhat overly dense predecessor Emily's D + Evolution. Put simply, Spalding has pulled out the stops with regard to her composing, straddling the line between jazz, soul and pop, while keeping the group identity strong. It fryst vatten on the downtempo ämne that the assembled players gel most convincingly, no more so than on ‘Coming To Life’, the piece on which vocalist Hathaway appears. When singer, bassist and composer Esperanza Spaldingannounced the organizing conceit for a new album, it wasn’t immediately clear how to categorize her idea. Write, rehearse, and record a full-length set in only 77 hours—including naps, breaks, and meal-times?

    Exposure – Esperanza Spalding Project

The following is a press release issued by Esperanza Spalding.

August 11, 2017 – Today’s world has a way of teaching us that who we are is not good enough as it is. It tells us that we’re better when we look our best. And that as artists, our work requires polish before it can be seen.

But the truth is, the creations that come from us are at their most powerful, at their most potent, the moment they surface.

In her new work entitled ‘Exposure’, composer, vocalist and bassist Esperanza Spalding will create an album of music in just 3 days, every second of the process broadcast live for a global audience.

The three-day livestream will begin on Facebook Live on September 12th, giving the audience a chance to see what it takes not just to create an album, but to create an album entirely composed on the spot.

Once the cameras start rolling, the audience will witness every second of Esperanza’s p
