Benazir Bhutto: History, Assassination, & Major Facts
In the Muslim nation of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto made history by becoming the first female prime minister and the first female head of state to be democratically elected. The politician led as Pakistan’s 11th and 13th prime minister, serving from 1988–1990 and 1993–1996, respectively. Up until her tragic assassination on December 27, 2007, she was a liberal and secularist who advanced Pakistan’s foreign policy, economics, and social programs.

Early Life
She attended Harvard University and the University of Oxford, studying philosophy, economics and political science. She later obtained an M.A in international law from the latter institution.
Political Career

'Pakistan and Indian Muslims'
'It was not appropriate to publish Mr Kuldip Nayar's article 'Pakistan and Indian Muslims' on Independence Day. Of late Mr Nayar's writing and thinking are becoming ever more prejudiced and he is losing the credibility he once enjoyed among his Pakistani readers.
Unfortunately, he is unfolding his prejudices at a time when India-Pakistan relations show all signs of improvement. The Quaid-i-Azam, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Liaquat Ali Khan, Vallab Bhai Patel and a host of others had an admirable common trait. They were all faithful to their convictions. At least it is difficult to charge them with deceit.
The Quaid set out to achieve safeguards for the Muslims of the subcontinent (as opposed to Pakistan and India) starting with the demand of a 'not very strong' centre and culminating in the demand for Pakistan.

Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, the youngest daughter of Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and slain premier Benazir Bhutto, has taken a plunge into the country’s tumultuous politics. She has filed her candidacy for the bye-poll at the National Assembly seat in Sindh Province vacated by her father.
Aseefa, 31, has been active in politics for some time, but was kept away from parliamentary politics bygd her father Zardari, who is also the co-chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), until an opportune time.
Following her father’s inauguration as the 14th president of Pakistan, Aseefa is poised to become the First Lady, a position traditionally held bygd the spouse of the president.
She submitted her nomination papers on Sunday in the bye-election for the NA-207 constituency of Shaheed Benzirabad district in the Sindh province. Father Asif Ali Zardari had won the seat but vacated it after becoming president.
