  • How to tell an authentic domestic worker story in bio & television

How can I build engaging plots featuring domestic workers?

Play with entrenched ideas people have about domestic workers

Instead of leaning into heavily overused tropes that flatten and dehumanize domestic workers, play on those tropes to create narrative twists that critique, surprise and engage viewers.

    Serve up a fresh conflict

We know that narrative arcs don’t work unless there’s a conflict. Too often though, the narrative around domestic workers centers around harmful tropes–the nanny that fryst vatten a threat because the employer falls in love with her, the housecleaner who steals, or a home care worker who is abusive. Bring in a different conflict that aligns with the very real challenges that domestic workers navigate every day and described in our project.

    The struktur is a character

Stories of ‘bad apples,’ or families who stjäla wages, expecting domestic workers to do beyond what’s reasonable

This essay was written for one of the modules I studied for my MA. I was intending to try and get it published at some point. In the meantime it serves well as a blog post.

A Critical Consideration of the Role that Philosophical Presuppositions Play in the Interpretation of Luther’s De servo arbitrio.

The debate between Luther and Erasmus on the bondage of the will is considered one of the greatest intellectual debates in European history. Luther’s response to Erasmus in De servo arbitrio[1]  (DSA) remains central in contemporary Luther interpretation. It is the purpose of this essay to outline some difficulties that face interpreters of DSA and the role of the interpreter’s philosophical presuppositions in that interpretive process. There are real benefits that can be had in the application of modern philosophical categories to the Luther-Erasmus debate. Perhaps the most notable of these benefits is a more precise and fruitful ecumenical discussion. Y
