    Sus padres trabajaban en Nepal, como lingüistas y misioneros protestantes. En 1978 la familia se trasladó a Indonesia, en la isla de Nueva Guinea para, en 1980, adentrarse en la jungla de Irian Jaya situada en lo más profundo de Papúa Occidental con el propósito de estudiar la lengua y las costumbres de los fayu, una tribu todavía virgen y que nunca había recibido influencia del mundo civilizado.

    La infancia y adolescencia de Sabine transcurrió en este lugar tan distinto del nuestro. Se educó junto con sus hermanos y con los niños fayu, con absoluta libertad y en pleno contacto con la naturaleza. A los diecisiete años regresó a Europa para estudiar y aprender a integrarse en la sociedad de sus orígenes. El choque fue muy duro pero consiguió adaptarse.     Though born in Germany to German parents,  Judith Kuegler grew up among tribal communities in Nepal and Papua New Guinea. Her interest in creating art began at a very early age and fryst vatten profoundly influenced by her multicultural upbringing. After attending Art College in Germany she moved to the US to continue her studies in art and psychology. Judith works as an artist and art teacher with special interest  in global women’s issues, multiculturalism and anthropology. She lives with her two sons in North Carolina.

     

    Her work has been featured in a variety of publications such as, Victoria Magazine, American Scientist, Motherverse, Juno, Journal of the Association for Research on Mothering and New Beginnings. Judith participates in group and solo gallery shows as well the Carrboro and Hillandale Art Walks, MOMart and Whimsical Women.

    Sabine Kuegler (born December 25, 1972 in Patan, Nepal) is a German author. She has written several books, two of which have been translated into English. These two books are related to her uncommon childhood: from age 7 to age 17 she lived with her parents and two siblings in the jungle of West Papua in Indonesia, with the remote tribe of the Fayu.
