    Faruq Mahfuz Anam James (born 2 October 1964), known mononymously as James, is a Bangladeshi singer-songwriter, guitarist and composer, also known as a playback singer. He is the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of the rock band Nagar Baul (previously Feelings). He is often referred by the name "Guru"[2] which means "master" or "teacher".

    James was born and raised in Naogaon, but grew up in Chittagong city. James rose to mainstream fame in the 1970s as the frontman of Feelings, which is one of the "Big Three of Rock", who were responsible for developing and popularizing hard rock music in Bangladesh, along with LRB and Ark. Feelings is considered to be the pioneer of psychedelic rock in Bangladesh.

    James has also led a successful solo career, with hit albums like Ananya (1969)

    Born in 1964 in Naogaon, James was brought up in the port city Chattogram due to his father Mojammel Haque's work, who later became the Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board. His family did not approve of his wish to become a musician, thus he left home in 1976 and started living in Aziz Boarding in Pahartali, Chattogram.

    Born on October 2, 1964 in Naogaon and raised in Rajshahi and Chittagong. His father was a government employee who was later appointed as the Chairman of the Chittagong Education Board.

    James was involved in music from a very young age, and he started his career in music. He first played guitar with his friends when he was in class seven in 1973. 

    Without the support of his family, James started his journey in music in his youth during the late 70's. He formed his band Feelings in 1977 as the vocal and lead guitarist, and released the band's first album Station Road in 1987. The band was later renamed as 'Nagar Baul'.
